Al Qalam Shariah Scholar Panel has been established to meet the growing demand from UK based Muslim consumers and businesses for authentic, professional shariah based guidance on how to properly conduct their legal and financial affairs in a manner consistent with Islamic beliefs and practices.
The panel consists of five leading UK based Shariah scholars, who have long standing experience in issuing Islamic edicts (fatawa) on contemporary financial and legal issues. The panel has been set up as a charitable organisation operating on a ‘not for profit’ basis, and operates under the remit of the 1st Ethical Charitable Trust charity commission number 1098185. The Panel is wholly independent from 1st Ethical, and operates at two levels;
1. To offer authentic Shariah advice, guidance and clarification on contemporary legal and financial issues (Fiqhul mua’amlat al-maaliyyah) to individuals as well as professional financial institutions on a ‘Not For Profit Basis’.
2. To provide education and training to UK based individuals and institutions on the structure and workings of Shariah compliant legal and financial products.
The Panel is managed by Maulana Fazlur Rehman Ibn Ali.
